It’s been a difficult year for everybody, but Santa Claus is still coming to town to see everyone on his sleigh with his elves and reindeer, government restrictions allowing of course.
There will be some changes due to the current situation. Santa won’t be able to come to your front doors but will wave from his sleigh to any children that have been good this year. The elves will be on foot to provide a treat to any good children, in a covid safe way. They will also have a bucket for collecting donations for local and national charities supported by the Twyford Round Table.
Online donations can be made as soon as you’re ready via PayPal or BuyTickets currently at the following:
In response to the coronavirus pandemic, Twyford & District Round Table continue to meet (virtually) twice a month via zoom. Recent activities include virtual pub quiz, virual horse racing, murder mystery evening, and an abbreviated AGM. We actually continue to grow in numbers with three new members joining us in May!
Given the government advice on large gatherings and the considerable upfront time required for logistics, we have taken the difficult choice to postpone the bonfire event planned for October 2020. The bonfire event has been running for over 40 years and is one of our key fundraising activities. We are actively considering an alternative community event (possibly online) for raising money to support local charities in 2020. Further updates will follow.
We still plan to bring the Santa Sleigh out this Christmas, however it is likely we will need to adapt how we do this to continue to abide with social distancing advice.
Given the nature of the COVID-19 pandemic we may need to re-evaluate our plans as necessary.
This evening, Twyford & District Round Table had its traditional Pie night at Berkshire’s Pie venue Sweeney & Todd’s in Reading, with special guests from Ongar Round Table. Followed by the epic Gravy boat challenge, won once again by our reigning champion James.

For this evenings meeting we had a very eye opening presentation from one of the Charities Twyford Round Table supports.
Andrew from Launchpad based in Reading kindly walked us through what they do with the money people donate and how we can help. Launchpad deal with the problems affecting local people, the seen, unseen and the hidden homeless as well as helping those before they become homeless.
